- White households have higher rates of affordable housing compared to other races with 74% of White households spending no more than 30% of monthly income on housing and related expenses.
- Black and Hispanic households have lower rates of affordable housing compared to other races with 56% and 58%, respectively, spending no more than 30% of monthly income on housing and related expenses.
- The Mid-Atlantic states experience less opportunities in affordable housing with three states ranking in the bottom five (New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania).
- The Southeast and Southwest regions fare better on affordable housing compared to other regions. Three out of four Southwest states (New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas) rank in the top ten.
